About the Book

“If you’re not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original.”

 Ken Robinson (2009)

This book aims to serve as both a reflection and an invitation. It shares lessons in leadership as connection, emphasising meeting people as humans rather than objects and encouraging readers to reflect on their own experiences with leading, following, belonging, and influence.

Sharing ideas involves vulnerability; as Ken Robinson (2009) notes, originality requires a willingness to be wrong. Without risking missteps or criticism, we stay within the safe bounds of familiarity. This book aims to push beyond those boundaries, emphasising exploration over certainty. Insight comes from open dialogue and critique, not defensiveness. Welcoming disagreement encourages reflection and shared understanding. The book envisions a future where leadership is community-driven and collective action prevails.

Book Thesis

‘We Don’t Need Another Hero’ questions the idea that salvation, wisdom, and leadership come only from extraordinary individuals in authority. Instead, it sees leadership as a relational, community-based practice, something built through collaboration, reciprocity, and shared purpose.

While hero stories are captivating, they often hide the ongoing collective effort that genuinely sustains communities. Heroes often act independently and provide solutions, whereas communities come together to ask questions.
